##### Can you describe your artistic process? What materials and techniques do you typically use?

I use mixed media—acrylics, oil paints, ink, pigments and sometimes unconventional materials for texture. It’s a balance of structure and spontaneity, letting the materials guide me as the piece evolves into something alive and expressive. Allowing my intuition and inner voice to guide me. 

##### What themes or concepts are you most passionate about exploring in your work?

I focus on themes of identity, memory, and the connection between the natural and human-made worlds. My work reflects how personal and shared experiences shape us, using layers and textures to capture their complexity. I aim to create pieces that feel both personal and universal, leaving room for viewers to find their own meaning. 

##### How do your personal experiences influence your art?

My art is deeply rooted in my personal experiences, exploring themes like identity, memory, and transformation. I draw from moments of change and introspection, using art to process and share these experiences in a way that connects with others on their own journeys.

##### What role does collaboration play in your work? Have you collaborated with other artists or disciplines?

I primarily work independently as an artist but remain open to collaborations that allow me to explore new mediums and expand my creative practice. Past collaborations include designing taxi cabs in London for the Stuart Weitzman launch, incorporating my pattern designs into rugs and bedding, and customizing high-end items such as Birkins, purses, shoes, and clothing.

##### Can you share a specific project or piece that holds special significance, or defines success for you?

Success as an artist is ultimately defined by the ability to pursue your passion and do what you love. Every work I have created holds a special significance for me.

##### How do you engage with your audience, and what do you hope they take away from your work?

I engage my audience by blending art with everyday life through my paintings, [murals](https://www.rjraizk.com/murals) for private residences and hospitality spaces, home decor, personalized luxury goods and public art projects. My collaborations invite personal interaction, extending my work beyond traditional gallery spaces.

##### What challenges have you faced in your artistic career, and how have you overcome them?

Relocating to New Orleans six years ago after 13 years in New York City has been an exciting opportunity to expand my reach. While I continue to maintain strong relationships with clients in New York and internationally, I’m focused on building a thriving clientele here in New Orleans and embracing the unique opportunities this vibrant city offers.

##### In what ways (if any) do you think art can contribute to social change or address current issues in society?

My art fosters social change by embedding meaningful narratives into everyday objects and public spaces. Through functional collaborations, customized items, and public installations, I aim to spark dialogue on sustainability, accessibility, and cultural identity, making societal issues visually impactful and accessible.
