##### How do you approach starting a new piece of artwork?

As both an entrepreneur and an artist, a blank canvas always excites me because it symbolizes limitless potential. Sometimes I begin with a clear idea in my head, but often I simply let my thoughts and feelings at that moment guide me. I love the spontaneity of just diving in and allowing the creative process to unfold naturally, with no set plan.

##### What emotions do you hope to evoke in viewers through your art?

When people see my art, I want them to stop and smile, and to be curious. I hope I can bring a little lightness into the world, especially when it can sometimes feel heavy. For me, art is about making the world a bit brighter.


##### What role does humor play in your artwork?

I want my pieces to tell interesting stories about how something is impacting me and making me feel, whether it’s my day-to-day life with my wife and daughters or bigger global events. I try to inject a lot of positive energy and laughter into my work, so having a sense of humor definitely plays a part in that. 

##### How do you handle moments of doubt or insecurity about your work?

I spent nearly 20 years as an entrepreneur, and also in that world, you’re faced with countless uncertainties. It didn’t stop when I started making art. Whenever I feel unsure about my work, I remind myself of why I’m doing it in the first place—because it’s something I love. Art brings me joy, and when I focus on that joy, I’m able to push through and keep going.

##### How do you decide when a piece is finished? What signals that to you?

For me, a piece is done when it feels like it tells the story I want it to tell. It’s not necessarily a moment of perfection, but more a sense that I’ve captured the energy or the emotion that inspired me to start in the first place. There’s always a bit of intuition involved—I just know when it’s time to stop.

##### Do any social expectations or your family influence or challenge your artistic identity?

My wife and daughters are huge influences on my art. My interactions with them often inspire my work, and I love that they’ve been part of this creative journey with me. At the same time, my entrepreneurial background and time spent in that world have shaped how I approach my art too. It’s about balancing those influences and staying true to who I am.

##### How do you envision the future of your artistic practice evolving?

I keep an open mind when it comes to my creative evolution. My art is a reflection of me at that moment in time, so as I continue to evolve, so will my work. My latest piece is often my favorite because it represents that newness and evolution.
