It’s no secret that our generation is “always online,” subject to an anxiety-inducing onslaught of constant emails, text bubbles, and middling Tinder profiles. There are times when it feels like you have nowhere to turn, like you’re drowning in a non-stop group chat or facing an inbox packed with an endless string of “just following ups.” Sure, you can put your phone on “do not disturb” and let the notifications pile up, but there are also times you just have to get away, even if it means sitting on the itchy embroidered couch in grandma’s seaside cottage. 

At this point, there aren’t a lot of WiFi-less places left, meaning your best bets are a remote cabin in the woods or some quaint beach house owned by an elderly couple who never bothered to remodel the place or install an ethernet port. But how are you supposed to focus on reading your book or playing Scrabble when you’re surrounded by a nightmare of nantucket stripes, maritime tchotchkes, and [Nancy Meyers navy blues](https://www.cityfurniture.com/blog/designers/nancy-meyers-home-style-guide-coastal-inspired-interiors)? Start by throwing away the dingy lace curtains, repainting the walls, and modernizing the space with the help of some simple aesthetic updates. Think modernist art that still channels those classic seaside cottage colors — dark blues, seafoam greens, and bright whites — just using experimental techniques, mixed media, and abstracted shapes. All you need is a few affordable pieces to completely transformed the dated decor into a chic beach bungalow and, based on what we’ve already found, Cohart seems like a pretty good place to start.
