The **apexart NYC Open Call 2027–28** is accepting proposals until **October 31, 2026**. If you have an idea for a group exhibition, this is one of the most accessible ways to get it shown in New York: five winning proposals each receive a $10,000 budget and a place in apexart's 2027–28 season. You don't need a curatorial track record, a CV or even images to apply, just a strong idea written in 500 words or less.

#### What Is the apexart Open Call?

[apexart](https://apexart.org/opencalls.php) is a non-profit exhibition space in New York City known for idea-driven group shows. Each year its NYC Open Call invites anyone to propose an exhibition, and the winners are chosen by a large international jury rather than by apexart staff.

#### What Winning Proposals Receive

Five proposals will be selected. Each one receives:

- A **$10,000 exhibition budget**
- A slot in apexart's **2027–28 exhibition season** in New York
- An exhibition brochure sent by mail and email to **more than 7,000 people**
- Full administrative and logistical support from the apexart team

Organizers are expected to work within the budget provided.

#### Who Can Apply?

The open call welcomes **curators, artists, writers and other creative people**, at any experience level and from anywhere in the world. Artists who have never curated before are eligible, and you can include yourself as one of the artists in your proposed show.

#### How to Write Your Proposal

apexart keeps the application deliberately simple:

- Write a proposal of **no more than 500 words**, in English
- Propose a focused, original **group exhibition with at least three artists**
- Do **not** include a bio, CV, links or images: the idea has to stand on its own

A good proposal makes a clear argument. Explain the question your exhibition asks, why it matters now, and how the selected artists' work answers it.

#### How Proposals Are Selected

All proposals are reviewed **anonymously and in random order**. Hundreds of jurors from about 85 countries, including students from university classes, vote on the submissions over a month. apexart staff do not influence the results, which keeps the process open to newcomers.

#### Application Deadline

**October 31, 2026.** Submissions opened October 1, 2026. No application fee is listed.
