Through layers of color, texture, and movement, I endeavored to capture the themes of introspection and self-discovery embedded within Joel's verses.

This piece was inspired by nature, I capture little details using my zoom camera of flowers, plants, trees and everything that has to do with nature, I paint them in an abstract style. Those little details that I capture are like those little special moments that we have in life.

For the past few months, I have been interviewing and recording friends, strangers, family, and lovers about their sensory memories. I have taken these recordings and am translating them into glowing orbs of color that represent each memory.

This piece was created in Oaxaca, Mexico, and is inspired by Ben's time working and living there. Made using a combination of natural pigments such as iron oxides and indigo, it is an exploration of traditional dying techniques endemic to the region as well as myths of the Nahual (a shamanic process of changing into an animal form). My son was attending summer school near our house. When I would go to pick him up from summer camp I would walk by the school that had these wonderful turquoise doors.  The afternoon sunlight would create beautiful warm shadows and bright crisp white walls.  I took photos and made drawings for reference and this is the result.  I hope you enjoy it!
