Tucked away in the back of a Kubota Japanese Garden, the “Tree of Fire” was difficult to find. I found it as the sun set below the trees. Ambient light seemed to fall on the leaves like dust from a Disney movie. I was inspired by how the tree knew just how far to grow to kiss the pond’s surface just so.

I love them both, but admit that I’m more likely to be awake for a sunset than a sunrise. Organic shapes of pink, copper, gold and yellow remind me of all the beautiful places in the world that I’ve been fortunate enough to watch the sun go down.
