In this painting I felt like making it monochromatic helped the overall feel of the piece - the stark black background makes the flowing tablecloth pop out.  I like the potential interpretation of the two empty glasses sitting on a table - were they full before?  Maybe they are waiting to be filled in the future.

What captures my attention is the monumental gesture of these train stripes -- as if the metal cars themselves were moving paintings. The vivid, minimalist patterns invoke the distilled, linear impact of Daniel Buren's site-specific works. The figure at bottom enters the discourse as element and portrait, within and without the signals at play.
