The Art Yearbook includes 8,000 unique collectible art world portraits with proof of ownership stored on the Ethereum blockchain. Inspired by real people who have or will make their mark on the art world, the Yearbook commemorates the art community of the past, present, and future. Like humans, no two are exactly alike, and each portrait can be officially owned by a single person on the Ethereum blockchain.
If you are on this site, it means that you've been invited to submit your portrait for the yearbook, before the project goes out to the public. Join the yearbook to make your mark in art history for generations to come.
The Art World is dominated by exclusive, legacy relationships between the 1% of wealthy people in the world controlling the narrative. But art is not just for the rich. There are millions of artists, art advisors, curators, producers, and commissioners who bring art into our world, and nearly everyone owns art.
The Yearbook captures a historic archive of the art community, to democratize the narrative of the “art world” for future generations.
The smart contract enables a profit-share model so everyone involved from the Cohart community can benefit from the success of the project.
35% of the sales will go to the original creator with a 5% royalty for future sales, and 10% will be dedicated to future Cohart community projects with other artists.
The Portraits are 2048px / 2048px art images, generated algorithmically by the artist Sheng Lin. Most are ethereal-looking people, but there are a few rarer types mixed in which capture various moods from influential figures of art history. Every portrait has their own profile page to showcase their attributes as well as their ownership/for-sale status.
We are currently collecting 1,000 portrait images for the first participants by April 2022.
The next phase will include portraits from the past (famous faces of you'll recognize, as well as some folks who may have played roles in art history behind the scenes) and more faces from the community until all 8,000 are finalized.
All the portraits will be accessible to buy, sell, and trade on the Cohart mobile + desktop application by the end of 2022.
