Mooring is a 8" kinetic table-top sculpture in black, is balanced on curved legs, topped with two red spheres that rotate and spin on a horizontal axis. The spheres act as counterweights, creating a dynamic system of balance that responds to touch.

The piece explores themes of stability, movement, and change—the constant adjustments required to maintain equilibrium in our lives. The kinetic element invites interaction, reminding viewers that balance is never static but requires ongoing recalibration. The contrast between the solid black form and the movable red spheres suggests the tension between what grounds us and something secured while still allowing some range of motion.

Working on “Adventure” allowed me experiment with a two separate points of movement, balancing  different shapes and weights. 

This sculpture features a central pivot that moves the arm as a whole, and the smaller 360 pivot, that can independently turn the back circular shape. Flicking the circular shape with your finger(nail) add an audible chime!

Both pivot points can be disconnected for simple transport.
